What will this trip actually cost?

Where you fly from changes the answer

The same 10-day mid-range Vietnam trip, priced from every departure city we hold fares for. Nothing changes except the airport you start at.

between the cheapest and priciest origin, for an identical trip. It is why a single "cost of Vietnam" figure describes nobody's trip, and why the calculator asks where you are flying from.

Deciding between two places?

On-the-ground costs and airfare pull in opposite directions often enough that the cheaper destination flips depending on your departure city. These comparisons show where.

Why these numbers are different

Every figure is dated

Prices move, so a cost page without a date is a cost page you cannot trust. Each number stores the day it was checked and the source it came from, and the page shows both.

Confidence is graded

Verified, sampled, or estimated. A page inherits the weakest grade in it, so one guess downgrades the whole total — which is the honest outcome.

Questions

How much does a trip cost?

It depends on where you fly from more than almost anything else. For a 10-day mid-range trip to Vietnam, the total ranges from $1,290 departing Delhi to $2,190 departing New York — a $900 gap for an identical trip. Use the calculator above with your own departure city.

Does the calculator include flights and visa?

Yes, once you pick a departure city. Airfare is round trip from your airport, and the visa fee follows your passport rather than where you fly from. Without a departure city the calculator shows on-the-ground costs only, and says so.

Can I get a cost for two people, or a family?

Yes. Set the number of travellers and the calculator returns both the group total and the per-person figure. Accommodation scales by rooms rather than by head, so a couple sharing a twin does not pay twice for one bed.

Why are your numbers more specific than other sites?

Because they are itemised rather than summarised. Most travel sites quote a range two to four times wide, which is too vague to plan against. Every figure here is stored with its source and the date it was checked, and every total shows the lines it is made of.
