TripPay Travel Cost Intelligence

What a Thailand trip costs

The most-connected destination in the region, which keeps airfare low from most origins. On-the-ground costs run above Vietnam, especially on the islands. Figures below are on the ground only for a 9-day trip, one person, per day and in total. Airfare and visa depend on where you start — pick your city below and the page recalculates.

Thailand cost questions

How much does a trip to Thailand cost?

Thailand sits in the middle of Southeast Asia on cost: cheaper than Singapore or Japan, more expensive than Vietnam on the ground. Because it is so well connected, airfare is often lower than for neighbouring countries, which can make the total cheaper even where daily costs are higher.

Are the Thai islands more expensive than the mainland?

Substantially. Accommodation on Phi Phi, Koh Samui and Phuket in high season can run two to three times a comparable room in Chiang Mai, and ferries add a one-off cost. A northern itinerary is the single biggest saving available on a Thailand trip.

When is Thailand cheapest to visit?

June to October, the green season, is the clear low point for both accommodation and airfare. December to February is the most expensive window of the year.
